Hobbs Events
Southeast New Mexico Cycling (SENMC) routinely organizes group rides in the Hobbs area. Anyone is welcome to join in on any of our rides. SENMC broadcasts a weekly e-mail with meeting dates, locations, and times for group rides and other activities. If you’d like to receive our weekly e-mail just send an e-mail to
rreid@opm35.hbs.edu
and request to be placed on the distribution list.
Area rides are designed to support the interests of a broad range of experience and skill. We support new cyclists up to very experienced cyclists. The vast majority of our rides are arranged so that varying distance options exist. Newer cyclists are supported by people with more experience. Our weekly e-mail details the length of ride options for each event, and as well specifies the level of pace anticipated. If questions exist about area group rides, just contact us by e-mail and additional information will be provided.
In addition to weekly e-mails, local group rides and other activities will be posted on this section of the website.
Local Rides
Saturday March 6, 2010:
Meet at the
Town & Country convenience store at the NE corner of Navajo
and Dal Paso at 10:30 AM. Please
note earlier start time.
This
will be a 30 to 60 mile ride, depending upon weather conditions.
Sunday March 7, 2010:
Ric
Crosby will lead a ride - meet at the
Town & Country convenience store at the NE corner of Navajo
and Dal Paso at 1:30 PM. This
will be a 20 to 30 mile ride, depending upon weather conditions.
FYI - Please note that scheduled group rides will be
cancelled if it the roads are wet (even if not raining at the
start time) or if the outdoor temperature is below 50
degrees immediately before the start time. Please keep
these two limitations in mind as you decide whether to join a
planned ride. Also, rides will be cancelled when winds are above
12 miles per hour.
Note
- We will be riding increasingly later on Saturdays to avoid as
much of the colder mornings as possible through winter, but Sunday
rides will remain in the afternoon until participating riders
vote to change the time. We don't want to interfere with
church attendance.
FYI
- Saturday rides are typically longer in distance and faster in
pace. Sundays are intended to be more casual rides of 20
to 30 miles and an easier pace.
